The Virtue of blue

Butterflies have complex mechanisms for both receiving and sending UV light.

They emit ultraviolet light waves through their wings, which are coated with minuscule scales that can reflect different color spectrums, depending on their shape and the angle of light that hits them.

Much like the scales on solar cells that we usually hide on top of roofs, or in fields. It is a beautiful material that works much like the wings of a butterfly. It can charge and emit, yet we tend to want to hide it.

The Virtue of Blue is a solar powered chandelier consisting of 1850 solar butterflies, interdependently charging its core light during the day, emitting light at night.
